Wellbeing & Social Club on Lake Zurich

Das Gute liegt so nah.

The feeling of a holiday on your doorstep — a place on Lake Zurich where body, mind and soul return to balance. Recovery, community and medical depth under one roof, within reach every day.

Begin a dialogue

Health is a daily practice.

The Local Sanctuary seeks a calmer way of caring for health than the existing system offers. On a retreat near the shore of Lake Zurich, an oasis is taking shape — one that joins medical precision with movement, recovery and the warmth of a private club and roots it in everyday life.

In this we follow the logic of the Blue Zones, those few places in the world where people live unusually long and healthy lives. What they share is not a particular protocol but a way of living: body, mind and soul in balance, work and private life in harmony, movement woven into the day, relationships of substance, good food enjoyed. This is precisely the setting we create — a local Blue Zone on Lake Zurich, within reach every day.

What takes shape here for our members is the capacity to live a self-determined life for as long as possible, to stay mobile and to spend time with the people who matter to you.

Your personal Health Concierge coordinates everything your vitality needs, quietly in the background. No odysseys of appointments, no waiting rooms. We give you back what runs short in everyday life: time, clarity about your health and the feeling of a holiday — at any time, on your doorstep.

BODY

The Science of Health

Vitality as practice

Modern diagnostics, powerful movement and gentle regeneration, translated into routines that fit everyday life — accompanied by people who understand your body as a whole. From precise diagnostics such as the DEXA scan through strength training on intelligent equipment to sauna, baths and manual therapy, everything finds its place in the day. In this way vitality becomes a daily practice.

MIND

The Art of
Living

Focus and resilience

Mental clarity is hard to hold — stimulation comes from every direction, demands keep rising, the world stays restless. Yet mental strength can be trained, like a muscle. Psychological support is readily at hand when needed; the way towards it is eased by formats close to everyday life: resilience and mental training of the kind used by elite athletes, translated for people who carry responsibility — alongside concentration and memory training, neurofeedback and deliberate pauses from stimulation, in quiet rooms, with company that listens. In this way resilience grows before it is needed.

SOUL

The Sense of Belonging

Connected through values

A fulfilled life needs more than a healthy body and a clear mind — it needs connection and the sense of being in the right place. Here, encounters without occasion have their home: a community joined by a shared attitude. With it, shared meals as part of health (Culinary Medicine), time in nature, mindfulness and reflection. This is the dimension that holds body and mind together and brings the three back into balance.

More in What we offer

Body, Mind and Soul — three dimensions with a shared centre Three overlapping circles for Body, Mind and Soul; at their shared intersection in the centre stands you. BODY MIND SOUL You

Three dimensions, guided by the World Health Organization's definition of health — body, mind and that which gives meaning, connection and belonging. They are not separate fields. Where they overlap is where you are.

The most important connection is the one to yourself. In the rhythm of demands, the feel for what truly does you good is lost — which pace sustains you, when rest is needed, what gives meaning. You regain this inner compass here: not through another programme, but through time, attention and people who think alongside you. Body, Mind and Soul are the three ways there — and their shared centre is you.

A day at The Local Sanctuary

A morning at the natural swimming pond or in the lake — early, while the shore is still empty. The water is bracing, the morning quiet. Then half an hour in a generous space for individualised training, yoga or Pilates, in surroundings otherwise found only in a fine spa hotel. Linen, aged wood, soft daylight.

An espresso. A finding your Health Concierge has already put into context for you — a familiar person who has known your name and your needs for months. What is measured in you — values, trends, sleep patterns — flows into your doctor's preparation. An app reads along without speaking up. Then a conversation with your doctor. At another hour, one with your psychologist — the two attuned to each other, without you having to mediate between them.

Lunch in the house restaurant: Culinary Medicine made from regional organic ingredients, balanced for health and taste. In the afternoon, an hour beneath old trees, a session in the oxygen chamber or the neurofeedback lab, or simply rest. Later, a conversation by the fire with three people from your Fellowship Circle, with whom you have been exploring a shared question for months. In the evening, a sauna infusion ritual in a natural sauna looking out into the green. The way home.

A place that follows your rhythm — whether you experience it across a whole day or in hours spread through the week.

Three connections grow thin in our time — to our own body, to time, and to the people around us.

  • The connection to our own body. Health fragments into separate findings: one specialist per symptom, no one for the person behind them. The view of the whole is lost.

  • The connection to time. What does us good slips to the bottom of the list. Wellbeing becomes a debt we carry around rather than a daily practice.

  • The connection to people. Each of us carries responsibility for our own health alone — with no counterpart to think alongside us.

The Local Sanctuary is the place where these three connections form again — in the midst of everyday life, not apart from it.

What sets us apart.

A retreat lasts eight weeks. What takes shape for you at The Local Sanctuary is designed to last, as part of everyday life.

A members' club revolves around networking and pleasure. With us, both belong — set within a larger whole of body, mind and soul.

Clinic and practice mean waiting for symptoms. We practise integrative preventive medicine — diagnostics with depth, evidence-based natural medicine and the continuing conversation as part of the care.

Apps and wearables promise optimisation every half-minute. With us, technology works in the background — what stands in the foreground are the people who accompany you.

Five promises

Three worlds under one roof

Integrative medicine, a trusting community and nature as a load-bearing element for body, mind and soul — joined in a single membership, in the same park, close to the lake.

Mental resilience as a pillar

Preventive psychological support is part of the membership — embedded in the rhythm of your week.

Integrative medicine as practice

Here health is understood as a long-term practice, with diagnostics at university level, translated into effortless everyday routines.

Co-creation rather than consumption

Founding Fellows shape the concept, the programmes and the culture — in the Member Council, in twice-yearly Council Sessions and through the Member App.

A principle of care in everyday life

At the centre stands continuous, honest care for the person. A personal Health Concierge — your constant point of contact throughout the membership — coordinates diagnostics, treatment and their integration into everyday life.

Paths through the year

Journeys

Some weeks call for routine, others for depth. Alongside everyday life at the Sanctuary there are time-bound paths — the journeys — for instance for women in hormonal transitions, for cognitive recovery in an overstimulated world, for your own best form in everyday life, or for footing through professional and personal transitions. The repertoire grows with our Fellows' needs. Your doctor prescribes a result, not a single service.

To the Journeys

A good neighbour

The care that defines The Local Sanctuary does not end at our own threshold. We want to be a good neighbour — rooted in the community by Lake Zurich where we are at home.

The Local Sanctuary opens up in defined ways: a café open to the neighbourhood, access to our garden at set times, and «Open Days» when we welcome the local area in. What we tend — quiet, greenery, clean air — should serve the place too.

This does not contradict the exclusivity our Fellows experience. The quiet core — the personal guidance, the rooms for health — stays discreet and reserved for Fellows. What opens up is what can be shared without disturbing that calm. For us the two belong together: a place with standards that remains part of its community.

And we see ourselves as a multiplier for the local setting: we invite restaurants, hospitality, wellness and a regional network of referring doctors to work with us — so that guests and community alike benefit.

Discuss a local partnership

An opening in preparation.

A property is in close consideration — in every case very near the shore of Lake Zurich, likely in the vicinity of Thalwil. Our members come from the area around Thalwil, the city of Zurich, the canton of Zug and the wider region; from the Gold Coast, a boat shuttle is available where needed.

Negotiations for the property are under way, and a confidentiality agreement with the owner binds us. As soon as legal clearance is in place, we will share the address and imagery transparently — with our Founding Fellows first.

What we can already promise today: a generous property with ample natural space, lake access within walking distance, in harmony with the surrounding landscape. Well connected and yet quietly set — not a remote retreat, but a Sanctuary right on your doorstep.

Soft opening expected in Q4 2027: we communicate the timeline openly, so that you know what you are committing to.

Places are limited: fifty Founding Fellows, four hundred Sanctuary Fellows, fifty Gold Fellows. Those who come early help shape the culture.

No risk: your subscription falls due only once all conditions are met. Until then no money changes hands — and you may withdraw at any time without giving a reason.

What connects us.

A community holds only when the people suit one another. We look for people who are open to new paths and who see health as a whole: body, mind and soul in balance — and connection as a firm part of it.

Admission does not run through an application form but through a self-portrait — a few minutes of reflection on your personal rhythm between The Science of Health, The Art of Living and The Sense of Belonging. What we read is not your CV but your attitude.

Five hundred people, not five thousand. Large enough to carry a community — small enough that people know one another and every voice counts. A place where things are shared rather than compared.
